Rahul Dravid declines Bangalore University honorary doctorate

Former India captain Rahul Dravid on Wednesday turned down the honorary doctorate Bangalore University wanted to confer on him. He informed the university that he wants to “earn a doctorate degree” rather than receiving an honorary one.  “While thanking the university for recognizing him, (Dravid) has in all humility declined to accept the honorary degree,” Vice-Chancellor B Thimme Gowda. “He has conveyed that he would try to earn a doctorate degree by accomplishing some form of academic research in the field of sport rather than receiving an honorary degree.” This…

Sourav Ganguly confirms receiving death threats

Sourav Ganguly confirmed on Monday that he has received an anonymous death threat on January‎ 5. Ganguly, who is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), said he has informed the police in Kolkata but has not lodged a formal complaint. Sourav Ganguly said the threat pertained to his visit to Midnapore‎ where he is due to attend a felicitation by the Midnapore University on January 19.
